The Visit.

This was written at 4 in the morning of December 19, 2019, but I haven't felt inclined to share it until today. I have been reflecting on the journey we have traveled over the past 2 years. Right now is the perfect time to recognize the beauty in our past, be grateful for where we are, and look forward in hopeful anticipation for what is next. Like most, I am in need of some serious rest. It has been a long 2 years, no matter how you slice it! However, I truly believe if we face the coming year with gratitude, grace, and a bit of faith, there will be incredible things in store for each of us.

Cheers to the close of another year and the promise of a new beginning in the morning.

See you in 2022!

The Visit.

Her stumbling woke me in the dead of the night.

The Spirit of Old trying to muster a fight.

I knew she’d come, just as in years past,

lugging regret and waving her flag.

This year was different as I turned toward a noise,

A faint joyful humming from Moments gone by.

Some slightly shadowed, but all shining light,

stretched out behind me, stood guard in the night.

My slumber returned, then only to find,

the Spirit of Now awaiting her turn,

Battered and bruised as if just from a fight.

Victory was clear in the gleam of her eyes.

The months flashed before me and light after light,

Those who’d stood by me, sword drawn at their side.

Family, colleagues, strangers, and friends...

A strong motley tribe that had stayed to the end.

Flooded with gratitude and beaming with pride,

I felt rest in their strength and my fear subside.

As I began to drift off to sleep once more,

the scent of Tomorrow seeped under the door.

It was thick and sweet and began to swirl,

tingling with promise of uncharted worlds.

I breathed in deep and welcomed the high,

as the Spirit of Next whispered visions of flight.

"Rest now, my love, in the work you have done,

knowing new Joy will rise with the sun.”

This blog is a personal collection of my thoughts, wins, losses, memories, and crossroad moments. Almost all of which were hashed out around my kitchen counter and in my journals.
